The Groton Dunstable Alliance for Youth, the Groton Dunstable Regional School District, and the elementary parent organizations are once again coordinating Community Reading Day in the district pre-school and elementary schools. The date for this year's program is Tuesday, February 5 (snow date is February 6), for the Swallow Union, Florence Roche and Boutwell Schools, and February 6 (snow date February 8) for Prescott School. As in years past, the theme for the day is respect, civility, and caring for others. Books selected for each grade level and classroom discussion reflect this theme.

Parent organizations have lined up community readers to visit classrooms, read the appropriate grade-level book, and discuss the main theme and topic with the children. Courtesy of GDAY, each child will receive a bookmark to remind them of the day. We are very excited to be celebrating reading in this special way. Historically, Community Reading Day is a wonderful and exciting day for the children and readers alike.
