Did you know that the non-playing hand is vital in mastering your tennis game? Let me give several examples of how you can use it!

First, when hitting an overhead smash, it is imperative that you are in the right position with your feet! You know that you are in a good position if you can extend your non-playing hand directly up to the ball like an outfielder in baseball, as if you were to catch the flyball. When you are directly under the lob, you rarely miss!

In a forehand, when you extend your hand out to the ball, it assists in lining up the ball for contact. It also helps you concentrate on your contact zone.

Lastly, the non-playing hand will assist in catching the follow through, which controls your swing and helps  elevate your swing since typically you swing from below the ball to high.

See you on the courts!
